Joshua
22 Then Joshua call the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh 2 and e tell them say: “Una don do everything wey Moses the servant of Jehovah command una, and una don obey my voice for everything wey I command una. 3 Una no leave una brothers all this time come reach today; and una continue to obey the commandments wey Jehovah una God want make una follow. 4 Now Jehovah una God don make una brothers rest, just as e promise them. So now make una go back to una tents wey dey the land wey Moses the servant of Jehovah give una to take as una own for the other side* of River Jordan. 5 The only thing be say, make una really make sure say una follow the commandment and the Law wey Moses the servant of Jehovah give una, as una de love Jehovah una God, de follow all im ways, de obey im commandments, de hold-am tight, and de serve-am with all una heart and with all una soul.”*
6 Then Joshua bless them and tell them make them go, and them go their tents. 7 Moses be don give the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh property for Baʹshan, and Joshua give the other half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh land for the west side of River Jordan, together with their brothers. Apart from that one, when Joshua tell them make them go their tents, e bless them 8 and tell them say: “Make una go back to una tents with plenty property, with plenty-plenty animals, with silver and gold, copper and iron, and plenty-plenty cloths. Make una take una share from the things wey una gather from una enemies, together with una brothers.”
9 After that one, the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh leave the other Israel people and comot from Shiʹloh wey dey the land of Caʹnaan, and go back to the land of Gilʹe·ad, wey be the land wey them don give them as their property where them don de stay, as Jehovah use Moses command them. 10 When them come the areas for River Jordan wey dey the land of Caʹnaan, the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh build one altar for there near River Jordan, the altar really big no be small. 11 After, other Israel people hear-am as them talk say: “See! The tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh don build one altar for the boundary of the land of Caʹnaan wey dey the areas of River Jordan for the side wey Israel people get.” 12 When Israel people hear-am, all Israel people gather together for Shiʹloh to go fight them.
13 Then Israel people send Phinʹe·has the son of El·e·aʹzar the priest to go meet the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh for the land of Gilʹe·ad, 14 and ten chiefs dey with-am, one chief for each family group from their papa side for all the tribes of Israel, each of them na head of im family group from im papa side among the thousands* of Israel people. 15 When them come meet the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh for the land of Gilʹe·ad, them tell them say:
16 “This one na wetin all Jehovah people talk: ‘Why una do this thing wey show say una no dey faithful to the God of Israel? Una don stop to follow Jehovah today as una build altar for unaself and turn against Jehovah. 17 The bad thing wey we do for Peʹor too small for us? We never clean ourself from that one till today, even though say Jehovah people face punishment. 18 And una want stop to follow Jehovah today! If una turn against Jehovah today, then tomorrow e go vex for all Israel people. 19 Now if na because the land wey una take as una own no dey clean, make una cross come the land wey Jehovah get, where the tabernacle of Jehovah dey, and make una live among us, but make una no turn against Jehovah, and no make us be people wey turn against-am as una build altar for unaself join the altar of Jehovah our God. 20 When Aʹchan the son of Zeʹrah do wetin show say e no dey faithful for the matter wey concern wetin them suppose destroy, God no vex for all Israel people? And Aʹchan no be the only person wey die for im sin.’”
21 So the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh answer the heads of the thousands* of Israel say: 22 “The God of gods, Jehovah!* The God of gods, Jehovah! E know, and Israel go still know. If we don turn against Jehovah and we no dey faithful to-am, then kill us today. 23 If e be say we build altar for ourself so that we go stop to follow Jehovah and de do offerings wey them de burn, grain offerings, and peace sacrifice them ontop-am, then Jehovah go punish us. 24 No, we do this one because of another thing wey we de worry about, because we tell ourself say, ‘For future, una sons go tell our sons say: “Wetin concern una with Jehovah the God of Israel? 25 Jehovah don put River Jordan as boundary between we and una, the tribe of Reuʹben and the tribe of Gad, una no get share for anything wey concern Jehovah.” And una sons go stop our sons make them no de worship* Jehovah.’
26 “So we tell ourself say, ‘Make we do everything wey we fit do to build altar for ourself, no be say na for offerings wey them de burn or for sacrifice them, 27 but na sign* between una and us and our children-children* wey go come after us say, we go use our offerings wey them de burn and our sacrifice them and our peace sacrifice them to worship Jehovah for im front, so that una sons no go tell our sons for future say: “Una no get any share for anything wey concern Jehovah.”’ 28 So we tell ourself say, ‘If them tell us and our children-children* that kind thing for future, then we go talk say: “See the altar wey our papa-papa make, wey be the same like Jehovah altar, no be for offerings wey them de burn or for sacrifice them, but na sign* between una and us.”’ 29 We no fit ever think-am say we want turn against Jehovah and stop to follow Jehovah today and build altar wey we go de use for offerings wey them de burn, grain offerings, and sacrifice them, apart from the altar of Jehovah our God wey dey front of im tabernacle!”
30 When Phinʹe·has the priest, the chiefs of the people, and the heads of the thousands* of Israel wey dey with-am hear the things wey the children-children of Reuʹben, Gad, and Ma·nasʹseh talk, their mind come down. 31 So Phinʹe·has the son of El·e·aʹzar the priest tell the children-children of Reuʹben, Gad, and Ma·nasʹseh say: “Today we know say Jehovah dey with us, because una no do this thing wey for show say una no dey faithful to Jehovah. Now una don save Israel people from the hand of Jehovah.”
32 Then Phinʹe·has the son of El·e·aʹzar the priest and the chiefs come back to the land of Caʹnaan from the land of Gilʹe·ad, where them go see the tribe of Reuʹben and the tribe of Gad, and them tell other Israel people wetin them talk. 33 When Israel people hear wetin them talk, their mind come down. Then Israel people praise God, and them no talk again say them de go fight war against the tribe of Reuʹben and the tribe of Gad to destroy the land wey them de stay.
34 So the tribe of Reuʹben and the tribe of Gad give the altar name,* because them talk say “na sign* between us say Jehovah na the true God.”
