Joshua
4 As all the people just cross River Jordan finish, Jehovah tell Joshua say: 2 “Choose 12 men from the people, one man from each tribe, 3 and command them say: ‘Make una carry 12 stones from the middle of River Jordan, from the place wey the priests stand, and carry them as una de cross and arrange them keep for the place wey una go sleep for night.’”
4 So Joshua call the 12 men wey e don choose from among Israel people, one man from each tribe, 5 and Joshua tell them say: “Make una pass go front of the Ark of Jehovah una God go the middle of River Jordan, and make each of una carry one stone put for im shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of Israel people, 6 to be sign for una. If una children* later ask una say, ‘Why una put this stones for here?’ 7 una must tell them say: ‘This one na because the water for River Jordan stop to flow for front of the ark of Jehovah agreement. When the Ark cross River Jordan, the water for River Jordan stop to flow. This stones go make Israel people de always remember* this thing wey happen.’”
8 So Israel people do just as Joshua don command them. Them carry 12 stones from the middle of River Jordan just as Jehovah tell Joshua make e do, so that e go match the number of tribes of Israel people. Them carry them cross go the place wey them go sleep for night and arrange-am keep for there.
9 Joshua still arrange 12 stones for the middle of River Jordan for the place wey the priests wey carry the ark of the agreement be stand, and the stones dey there till today.
10 The priests wey carry the Ark continue to stand for the middle of River Jordan until the people don do everything wey Jehovah command Joshua make e tell them to do, according to everything wey Moses don command Joshua. For all this time, the people de hurry cross. 11 As soon as all the people don cross go the other side finish, the Ark of Jehovah and the priests cross go the other side as the people de look. 12 And the tribe of Reuʹben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Ma·nasʹseh arrange theirself to fight and cross go the other side before other Israel people, just as Moses don tell them to do. 13 Na around 40,000 soldiers wey don ready to fight cross for front of Jehovah and go the other side for the level lands wey dey the desert of Jerʹi·cho.
14 That day, Jehovah honor Joshua for front of all Israel people, and them get deep respect for-am* for im whole life, just as them be get deep respect for Moses.
15 Then Jehovah tell Joshua say: 16 “Command the priests wey carry the ark of the Testimony make them come out* from River Jordan.” 17 So Joshua command the priests say: “Make una come out* from River Jordan.” 18 When the priests wey carry the ark of the agreement of Jehovah come out* from the middle of River Jordan and the under of their feet touch dry ground, the water for River Jordan start to flow again and flow pass im boundary like before.
19 The people come out from River Jordan for the tenth day of the first month and put their camp for Gilʹgal wey dey the boundary for the east side of Jerʹi·cho.
20 As for the 12 stones wey them don carry from River Jordan, Joshua arrange them for Gilʹgal. 21 Then e tell Israel people say: “For future when una children ask their papa them say, ‘Wetin this stones mean?’ 22 una must explain to una children say: ‘Israel people cross River Jordan ontop dry land 23 when Jehovah una God dry the water for River Jordan for their front until them don cross-am, just the way Jehovah una God do the Red Sea when e make-am dry for our front until we cross-am. 24 E do this one so that all the people for the earth go know how Jehovah hand strong reach and so that una go always fear Jehovah una God.’”
