19 That time when king no dey Israel, one Levite wey be de live for the inside-inside part of the area wey mountains dey for Eʹphra·im take one concubine from Bethʹle·hem wey dey Judah as im wife. 2 But the concubine no dey faithful to-am, and the concubine leave-am go im papa house for Bethʹle·hem wey dey Judah. E stay there for four months. 3 Then im husband go meet-am to beg-am make e come back; e go with im man servant and two donkeys. So the woman take-am enter im papa house. When im papa see-am, e happy to meet-am. 4 So im father-in-law, wey be the papa of the young woman, make-am gree to stay with-am for three days; and them de chop and drink, and e de sleep there for night.
5 For the fourth day, when e wake up for early morning to go, the papa of the young woman tell im son-in-law say: “Chop something make you get power,* and then you fit go.” 6 So them sitdown, and them chop and drink together. After, the papa of the young woman tell the man say: “Abeg, stay here this night and enjoy yourself.”* 7 When the man stand up to go, im father-in-law continue to beg-am, so e stay there that night again.
8 And when e wake up for early morning for the fifth day to go, the papa of the young woman talk say: “Abeg, chop something make you get power.”* And them continue to waste time until evening don de reach, and the two of them continue to chop. 9 When the man stand up to go with im concubine and im servant, im father-in-law, the papa of the young woman talk say: “See now! Evening don almost reach. Abeg, stay here this night. See, day don de dark. Stay here this night and enjoy yourself. Tomorrow you fit wake up early and start your journey to go your house.”* 10 But the man no want stay another night again, so e get up and travel go reach Jeʹbus, wey be, Jerusalem. E dey with im concubine, im servant, and two donkeys wey them put something wey person fit sitdown ontop.
11 When them don de near Jeʹbus, everywhere don almost dark. So the servant tell im oga say: “Make we stop for this city of Jeʹbus people and stay here this night?” 12 But im oga tell-am say: “Make we no stop for city of strangers wey no be Israel people. Make we continue go reach Gibʹe·ah.” 13 Then e tell im servant say: “Come, make we try go reach one of those places; we go stay for Gibʹe·ah or for Raʹmah for night.” 14 So them continue to go and the sun start to go down when them don near Gibʹe·ah, wey dey the land of Benjamin.
15 So them stop for there and enter Gibʹe·ah to stay there for night. As them enter, them sitdown for the public area of the city, but nobody take them go im house to sleep for night. 16 At last that evening, one old man come wey de come back from im work for farm. The man na from the area wey mountains dey for Eʹphra·im, and e de stay for Gibʹe·ah that time; but the people wey de live for the city na from the tribe of Benjamin. 17 When the old man look and see the person wey de travel for the public area of the city, e ask-am say: “Where you de go and where you come from?” 18 E answer say: “We de come from Bethʹle·hem wey dey Judah de go the inside-inside part of the area wey mountains dey for Eʹphra·im, and na there I come from. I be go Bethʹle·hem wey dey Judah and I de go the house of Jehovah,* but nobody want take me go im house. 19 We get enough dry grass and animal food for our donkeys, and bread and wine for me, the woman, and our servant. We get everything wey we need.” 20 But, the old man talk say: “Make you get peace! I go give you anything wey you need. Abeg, no stay for this public area for night.” 21 So e take them go im house and give the donkeys food.* Then e wash their feet and them chop and drink.
22 As them de enjoy theirself, some useless men from the city surround the house and de nack the door with power, and them continue to tell the old man wey get the house say: “Bring the man wey come your house come out, so that we fit sleep with-am.” 23 Then the man wey get the house come out and tell them say: “No, my brothers, make una no do this kind wicked thing. Abeg, this man na visitor for my house. Make una no do this kind thing wey de bring disgrace. 24 My virgin daughter and this man concubine dey here. Make I bring them come out and una fit disgrace them if na wetin una must do.* But make una no do this man this kind thing wey de bring disgrace.”
25 But the men no gree listen to the old man, so the man wey be Levite hold im concubine and bring-am outside give them. Them rape the woman and useless-am the whole night until morning reach. Then when day break, them send the woman comot. 26 For early morning, the woman come and fall down for the domot of the house of the man where im husband* dey and e lie down for there until everywhere bright. 27 When im husband* wake up for morning and open the doors of the house to continue im journey, e see the woman, im concubine, as e lie down for the front of the house and im hands dey the domot. 28 So the man tell-am say: “Stand up; make we go.” But the woman no answer. Then the man put the woman ontop the donkey and start to go im house.
29 When e reach im house, e take knife wey them de use slaughter meat, and hold im concubine and cut-am part by part into 12 pieces, and send one piece to each territory of Israel people. 30 All the people wey see-am talk say: “This kind thing never happen before and we never see-am from the day wey Israel people comot from the land of Egypt come reach today. Make una think about the matter,* talk about-am, and tell us wetin to do.”
