18 As David just talk with Saul finish, Jon′a·than and David come really like each other and become tight friends,* and Jon′a·than start to love-am the way e love imself.* 2 From that day, Saul keep David for im house, e no let-am go back to im papa house. 3 Then Jon′a·than and David make agreement because Jon′a·than love-am the way e love imself.* 4 Jon′a·than come still remove im coat wey no get hand wey e wear and give-am to David, with im soldier uniform, im sword, im bow, and im belt. 5 David come start to go war, and anywhere wey Saul send-am go, e de always succeed.* Because of this one, Saul come put-am as commander for im army, and this one really make all Israel people and the servants of Saul happy.

6 Anytime wey David and the other soldiers come back after them don win Phi·lisʹti·a people, the women go come out from all the cities of Israel go meet King Saul. Them go de sing, de dance, de play tambourine and flutes, and them go de happy. 7 As the women de dance, them go de sing say:

10 The next day, bad spirit from God come hold Saul and e start to behave one kind for inside house, and David be de play harp* as e de do before. That time, Saul hold spear for hand. 11 E come throw the spear, de tell imself say: ‘I go pin David for the wall!’ But David escape from-am two times. 12 Saul come de fear David, because Jehovah dey with David, but e don leave Saul. 13 So, Saul comot David from the work wey e de do for im house and make-am person wey de control group of one thousand soldiers. David come de lead the soldiers go war. 14 David continue to succeed* for everything wey e de do and Jehovah dey with-am. 15 When Saul see say David de succeed well-well, e come de fear-am. 16 But all the people of Israel and Judah love David because e de lead them go war.

17 Later, Saul tell David say: “See my first daughter wey im name na Me′rab. I go give-am to you as wife. But, make you continue to work for me as warrior wey no de fear, and fight the wars of Jehovah.” Because Saul tell imself say: ‘No be me go kill David, make Phi·lisʹti·a people kill-am.’ 18 David come tell Saul say: “Who I be and who my papa family be for Israel for me to be king in-law?” 19 But when time reach for Saul to give im daughter Me′rab to David, e don already carry-am give A′dri·el wey be Me·hoʹlah person make e be im wife.

20 Now Saul daughter wey im name na Mi′chal like David no be small. When them tell Saul this one, e happy. 21 Saul come talk say: “I go give Mi′chal to-am, so that e go be trap for-am, and so that Phi·lisʹti·a people go fit kill-am.” So Saul come tell David for the second time say: “Today, I want make you be my in-law.” 22 Saul come still command im servants say: “Make una call David go one corner and tell-am say, ‘See! The king de happy with you, and all im servants like you. So now, try make you become the king in-law.’” 23 When Saul servants tell David this things, David talk say: “Una think say na small thing for me to be king in-law, when e be say I be poor man wey no be anything?” 24 Then the servants of Saul go tell-am say: “See wetin and wetin David talk.”

25 So Saul talk say: “See wetin una go tell David, ‘The king no want any bride price. Because of this one, Saul come give-am im daughter Mi′chal say make e marry. 28 Saul come see say Jehovah dey with David, and say im daughter Mi′chal love David. 29 This one come make Saul de fear David more-more, and Saul come be enemy of David for the rest of im life.

30 The leaders of Phi·lisʹti·a people de come out come fight, but anytime wey them come out, David de win them for war* pass all the other servants of Saul. This one come make people de respect David well-well.
